Shipment of explosives and detonators seized in Red Sea en route to Houthis

The Yemeni Forces said Sunday it has seized a boat carrying a large shipment of explosives and detonators in the Red Sea near the Bab El-Mandab Strait, which was headed to the Iran-backed Houthis in Hodeidah.

The media center of the Giants Brigades said in a statement on its account on X that a naval patrol belonging to the joint security campaign intercepted a boat carrying three containers filled with highly explosive materials, detonators, and fuses used in the manufacture of drones, missiles, and explosive devices.

The seizure operation took place after surveillance and pursuit on Saturday near Bab El-Mandab, while the boat was heading towards the coastal Hodeidah, which is under the control of the Iran-backed Houthis. The statement added.

The smuggling crew was also arrested, and the boat along with the materials on board were confiscated.

This comes 24 hours after the seizure of a boat carrying a shipment of smuggled ammunition and shells off the coast of Ras Al-Ara near Bab El-Mandab.
