Latest Developments: Houthis Establish New Weapons Depots in Al-Sayani and Al-Sabra, Ibb
The Houthi militia has established new sites for storing heavy weaponry — including Katyusha rocket launchers — in mountainous areas of Al-Sayani and Al-Sabra districts, south of Ibb Governorate, in a move that heightens fears of the region turning into a potential battleground, according to a local source.
The source told Khabar Agency that the militia began, weeks ago, transporting large quantities of weapons to Al-Sabra Mountain, which overlooks the city of Taiz, after previously digging tunnels in the mountains of Al-Hazm, Dhi Al-Sharq, and Al-Humayra.
He noted that Al-Sabra Mountain now hosts a Katyusha launch platform and depots for heavy arms, under strict security measures that even prevent shepherds from approaching the area. He confirmed that what is known as the Al-Hamra region has effectively been turned into a closed military zone.
The source warned that indicators on the ground point to an imminent explosion of the situation, stressing the urgent need for media and human-rights attention to these developments, which threaten civilians’ lives and risk turning peaceful villages into potential frontlines.
He called on all media outlets and both local and international organizations to act immediately to halt these violations and the military escalation in densely populated areas, holding the militia fully responsible for any upcoming escalation.
