Massive fire engulfs displacement camp in Marib
A devastating fire has engulfed over 70 shelters within the Al-Faw camp for internally displaced people (IDPs) in Marib, resulting in the displacement of numerous families. The incident adds to the ongoing plight of displaced individuals who have sought refuge in the governorate due to the conflict or the control of Houthi militias.
Marib governorate, located in the eastern part of Yemen, has become a safe haven for more than 2.5 million internally displaced Yemenis who have been forced to leave their homes due to the ongoing Houthi war.
The fire, coupled with the scorching summer temperatures in the desert city of Marib, has exacerbated the challenges faced by the already vulnerable displaced families. With their makeshift shelters devoured by the flames, these families are now grappling with not only the ravages of displacement but also the loss of their homes and belongings.
