Ibb: Houthi Militia Installs New Missile Launch Platform on Jabal Al-Mahallalah in Al-Sayyani
Local sources in Yemen’s Ibb governorate have revealed that the Houthi militia has established a new missile launch platform on Jabal Al-Mahallalah, located within the boundaries of Al-Nuqaylain village in Al-Sayyani district. This marks the second missile platform to be installed in the area in recent months.
The sources explained that the militia initially deceived local residents by claiming the site was intended for a telecommunications network enhancement project. However, six months later, residents were shocked to discover that the location had been converted into a fortified militia camp overlooking several neighboring villages in the district.
According to the sources, the strategically located mountain has since been turned into a closed military zone, with local residents barred from approaching it. The camp and missile platform are reportedly managed and supervised by Houthi elements brought in from Saada, Amran, and Sana’a.
A local human rights source noted that the militia deliberately selected the elevated site overlooking surrounding villages to use it as human cover, particularly given the presence of an old historic mosque in the vicinity, despite the absence of nearby residential areas or population clusters.
This development follows the militia’s earlier deployment of another missile platform at a different location in Ibb governorate, heightening residents’ fears that these highlands are being transformed into Houthi military bases that endanger civilian lives and turn previously safe areas into potential targets.
